The Malakoff Tigers' responded in a big way coming off their bye week last week with a 41-3 win over the Quitman Bulldogs at Bud Moody Stadium Friday night in District 7-2A action.
With the win, coach Jamie Driskell's Bulldogs head into the regular season finale hosting Winnsboro with an 8-1 overall record and a 4-1 record in district play. Winnsboro is 7-2 overall and 5-0 following a 38-21 win over Kemp Friday night.
On Friday, Malakoff started the scoring in the first quarter as they recovered the opening kickoff. Quarterback Jacob Woolverton handed off to Marcus Dowell — who scored his first of three touchdowns from seven yards out for the 7-0 lead.
Later in the first quarter, Damontes Dowell scored on a 54-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-0 Malakoff.
In the second quarter, Marcus Dowell scored his second TD from a yard out and later scored from 13 yards out for a 27-3 halftime score.
Malakoff would get scores from Kendrick Hornbuckle on a 30-yard reception from Deric Greenhaw and an eight-yard touchdown to Braylon Cable for the 41-3 finale.
