JUNIOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Lady Cards win 38th straight

TVCC women 2-0 in Waco, Cardinals split two in Oklahoma

WACO — The fourth-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals are off to a 2-0 start after action in Waco this past weekend.

Playing in the McLennan Community College Classic, Coach Elena Lovato’s squad posted wins against McLennan, 81-55, and Temple, 71-61.

The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to put the program’s 38-game winning streak on the line in their home opener Tuesday against  Australian Junior National Team. Game time at Cardinal Gym is 5:30 p.m.

Against McLennan, Adut Bulgak led the Lady Cardinals with 27 points. Shlonte’ Allen had 12. Allen was the top scorer against Temple with 15. Savannah Carter had 13, Shannon Smith 10 and Bulgak 9.

The Cardinals went 1-1 in season-opening classic action in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Coach Kris Baumann’s Cardinals dropped a 73-62 decision to NOC-Enid in its opener Saturday, but bounced back Sunday to roll past Carl Albert by a 74-48 count.

The Cardinals are scheduled to make their home opener Tuesday against the Texas Riders at 7:30 p.m.

Karon Phillips had 22 points for TVCC against NO-E.Dominique Eilliott had 20 points and 16 rebounds against Carl Albert.
