PARIS —
The Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals officially clinched the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Region XIV Tournament with a 3-2 win over the Paris Lady Dragons Wednesday night.
Head coach Tosha Spain’s Lady Cardinals won by scores of 16-25; 28-26; 25-22; 8-25; and 15-12. Prior to Wednesday night, the Lady Cardinals were 0-5 in Game 5 matches.
The win officially put TVCC into the regional tournament for the first time in the program’s three-year history. They had initially believed they had clinched a spot in the tournament, but a review of conference tie-breaking rules left the Lady Cardinals needing to beat Paris in the regular-season finale to avoid a one-game playoff with Navarro.
“The kids earned this,” Spain said. “The kids played their heart out.”
