The Eustace boys and girls cross country team successfully defended their home turf by taking first place at the Eustace Scramble 2012 held Saturday at Four Pines Ranch.
The boys got three top-10 finishes, including Evan Arambula’s first-place overall 5K time of 16:40.50. Mark Zimmerer was third overall with a time of 17:19.75 and Jason Ballenger was seventh at 18:00.84.
Mabank’s boys were eighth overall, led by Garrett Grahm’s ninth-place overall finish at 18:09.26. The team’s next-highest finisher was Caleb Massengal at 19:53.48.
Brownsboro and Kemp finished 11th and 12th overall, respectively. Bro-wnsboro’s top finisher was Carter Taylor, who was 23rd overall with a time of 19:07.64. Team-mate Blake Ralson was 24th overall at 19:10.15. Kemp’s top finisher was James Kimbrell, who was 30th overall at 19:42.21.
On the girls’ side, Eustace also had three top-10 finishers, led by Michelle Gomez’s first-place overall time of 12:48.42. Samantha Crock-er came in fourth with a time of 12:08.18 and Casey Bramblitt was seventh with a time of 13:22.32.
Mabank came in seventh overall, with Heather Bayless leading the way with a 15th-place time of 13:46.18. Sydnee Pottorf came across the line in 26th place with a time of 14:20.14.
Kemp finished eighth overall in the team standings, led by Jessica VanPamel’s 28th-place finish of 14:29.90. Kelsey Gage was 29th with a time of 14:31.00.
In the junior varsity boys division, Eustace finished second and Malakoff fourth. Kemp was sixth in the JV girls division.
