HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER PLAYOFFS: Athens draws Kilgore in postseason opener

AHS looking for first playoff win since 2007 season.

Athens — The Athens Hornets once again draw a familiar foe in the first round of the playoffs Monday night at 8 p.m. at Whitehouse High School.

The Hornets come into the contest with a record of 8-11-5 as the No. 4 seed in the playoffs.

Following a 3-2 overtime win over Chapel Hill Friday night, coach Jonathan Ryal's Hornets' look to win their first playoff game since beating Jacksonville, 4-0, in 2007.

The game will follow the Whitehouse versus Kilgore girls' soccer game.
