MABANK —
Tri-County Area Youth Flag Football (5 on 5) is approaching its second season, with registration beginning later this month.
Youth NFL flag football is non-contact, offering unique features and benefits. The MAX V staff has been involved in coaching tackle football and coaching NFL flag football for over 11 years. Due to the success of previous NFL football programs, MAX V felt it was a great addition to the existing sports programs in the tri-county area.
Not only is this program great to develop players having not previously taken part in tackle, but it also allows tackle players another avenue to further develop their football skills by getting more repetitions at various positions.
Cost is $85 per player, and that includes NFL jersey, flags, city fees and insurance.
Registration will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, and Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mabank Junior High School gym.
NFL Flag Divisions are:
• K-1st-2nd;
• 3rd-4th
• 5th-6th; and
• 7th-8th.
Games are played in Mabank on Thursday evenings beginning March 8 and lasting through April 19.
Coaches can bring a team of seven players, or individual players can register and will be placed on a team from their area.
Practices are limited to one two-hour practice one day a week.
If you have any questions, please call Ron Anderson at 469-688-0175.
The benefits of playing in this league include: developing basic football fundamentals, mechanics and concepts; developing character; learning teamwork and life lessons; and having fun while getting exercise.
All coaches receive training and must pass a background check to participate.
