HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: AHS Cumby named to TSWA All-State football team

Athens — Athens Hornets’ junior linebacker K.J. Cumby added another postseason honor to his list as he was named to the Texas Sports-writer’s Association Class 3A All-State football team this week.

Cumby was named to the Class 3A first-team all-state team released by the Texas  Associated Press Sports Editors earlier this year. The picks were based on regular-season performance.

He also received an honor on the District 15-3A All-District first-team at linebacker this season.

Cumby was part of Athens’ 4-7 bi-district season under head coach Paul Essary.
