PARIS — The Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals outlasted the Paris Junior College Dragons for a 76-71 Region XIV Conference victory in double overtime Wednesday night.
Their first conference game, against Tyler, also went into double overtime last month. The Apaches came away with an 84-82 in that November 21 game.
With the win over Paris, the Cardinals raised their record to 9-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. Paris tumbled to 9-2 and 2-1.
The TVCC men are scheduled to be at home Saturday against Panola at 4 p.m. Panola is 7-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.
Chris Blake topped the Cardinal scoring effort with 20 points.
Also scoring in double figures were Adrian Forbes with 13 and Ernest “Stretch” Watson and Keandre Derrick with 10 each. Isaiah Rusher added eight points.
The score was tied 53-53 at the end of regulation and 62-62 after the first overtime.
In Wednesday’s other conference games, it was: Navarro 86, Bossier Parish 61; Angelina 78, Lamar-Port Arthur 75; Tyler 65, Panola 57; Lee 80, San Jacinto 76 and Jacksonville 87, Blinn 83 in overtime. Kilgore was a 104-56 winner over Northwestern State JV.

PARIS -- The seventh-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals pulled away in the second half for an 85-62 Region XIV Conference win over Paris Junior College’s Lady Dragons Wednesday.
The win was the fifth straight for the Lady Cardinals, who improved to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Paris fell to 6-4 and 1-1.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to return to action Saturday at home against Panola, which fell 77-74 to Tyler Wednesday night. Panola is 6-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference.
Gloria Brown poured in 27 points in 24 minutes of playing time against Paris. She was joined in double figures by Marcisa McMillan with 14 points and Tawanna Lee with 12.
The Lady Cardinals led 44-31 at the half.
Jacksonville was a 72-71 winner in Wednesday’s other conference game. Angelina posted a 69-57 non-conference win over Collin County.
TVCC announces
webcast schedule
The Cardinal Sports Network at Trinity Valley Community College has announced its webcast schedule for the 2009-10 basketball season.
First up is Saturday's Region XIV Conference doubleheader at Cardinal Gym between the TVCC women's and men's teams against Panola College. Pregame programming begins at 1:45 p.m. with the women's game scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. The men's game follows at 4 p.m.
