EUSTACE — The Eustace Bulldogs got Win No. 1 in the new E.L. Kirk Gymnasium Monday night, defeating the Trinidad Trojans, 49-42.
The Trojans led, 28-20, at the half before the Bulldogs (1-1) went on a 19-4 third-quarter run to grab the lead.
Guy Hargrove finished with 12 points to pace the Bulldogs, who were coming off a season-opening loss to Grand Saline. Blake Hammonds had eight and John Bradburn pitched in seven.
Zayd Mahasneh and Tyler Sapp had 11 points to lead the Trojans. Darius Boggas wrapped up his night with 10 points.
Bobcats top Avalon, 53-38
CROSS ROADS — The Cross Roads Bobcats defeated Avalon, 53-38, in their home opener last Friday.
Craig Ramsey had 20 points to lead Head Coach Keith O’Brien’s Bobcats, followed by 19 from Kolton McGlaun.
Garrett Robertson pitched in seven, Steven Murff had five and Brandon Peryrefitte finished with two.
The Bobcats led 27-19 at the half, and Avalon trimmed the lead to 38-34 at the end of the third quarter. But the Bobcats held Avalon to just four fourth-quarter points.
Cushing 47, Malakoff 38
CUSHING — A big second quarter lifted the Cushing Lady Bearkats to a 47-38 win over the Malakoff Lady Tigers last Friday.
The Lady Bearkats held a 15-12 lead after the first quarter, and increased that lead to 28-17 at the half.
Courtney Dawson led Malakoff (3-2) with 14 points. Rayvonna Garner had seven; Taylor Talbert six; Kayla Mullins five; Jordyn Teague three; and Plantrese Jackson three. Teague and Dawson had eight rebounds, and Garner had seven. Mullins also had three steals.
