KAUFMAN — The Malakoff Lady Tigers were oh so close to taking down the Caddo Mills Lady Foxes.
Just eight points away from clinching their bi-district match, the Lady Tigers watched as the Lady Foxes (30-11) rallied for a five-set win in Region II-2A bi-district action Tuesday night.
Caddo Mills won the first game, 25-18, but the Lady Tigers (22-12) won the next two by scores of 25-11 and 25-21.
They led the fourth game, 18-14, before the Lady Foxes rallied. The fourth game was marked by 13 tie scores.
Caddo Mills clinched the match with a 15-6 win in the fifth game.
“I’ve got a bunch of kids that are just so enjoyable to work with everyday,” Malakoff Head Coach Dick Senter said. “This senior bunch, they’ve just been a tremendous joy. We’re not the tallest team, but our kids just get after it.”
Gentry Garrison had a number of assists to a trio of her favorite beneficiaries — Tiffany Trimble, Kaitlyn Dosser and Rayvonna Garner, who all had strong games at the net.
