The Trinity Valley Men’s Basketball Team will have its home opener tonight at 8 p.m. vs. Elevate Athletes in Action Basketball Club.
The Cardinals opened their 2009-10 season with an 83-29 victory over Texas Wesleyan JV in Fort Worth. TVCC is coming off a 21-11 season in which it finished 12-7 in Region XIV play.
Leading the way for Coach Pat Smith’s squad this season will be returning starters Adrian Forbes (6’8” post, Jamaica) and his fellow frontcourt partner, Ernest “Stretch” Watson (6’7” forward, Washington D.C).
They will be joined in the starting line up by returning 6th man Keandre Derrick (6’1” guard, Dallas Skyline HS), transfer Chris Blake (former Florida State player, 6’5” wing) and freshman PG Darius Gatson (5’9”, Houston).
Forbes has already committed to the University of Auburn while Watson, Blake and Derrick are being recruited by numerous D-I programs.
Providing depth for the Cards will be returnee Stephon Mudiay (6’7” forward, Mansfield), Reggie Stallings (6’3” transfer from Flint, Mich.), Isaiah Rusher (6’9” post, transfer from U. of New Mexico), 6’0” PG Jeff Stubbs (Jackson, Miss.), 6’2” wing Matt Moody (Mansfield), 6’6” freshman Decario Tidwell (Charlotte, N.C.), 6’3” wing Xavier Williamson (Georgetown) and 6’3” wing Jacolby Anderson (Lancaster).
