TVCC 41, ARKANSAS BAPTIST 14: Out with a bang
Cardinals finish season on high note
The Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals finished the 2009 season strong with a 41-14 win over the Arkansas Baptist College Buffaloes Saturday at Bruce Field on Homecoming Day.
Trailing 14-3 midway through the second quarter, TVCC (4-5) got a 36-yard touchdown run from Bo Walker to kick off the first of 38 unanswered points. Walker scored three touchdowns in the game.
His backfield mate, however, Chad Winbush, was left frustrated and just a few carries shy of 1,000 yards for the season. Winbush, a preseason All-American, came into the game needing 65 yards for 1,000 rushing. A tough ABC defense, however, kept him from reaching the mark. Winbush, averaging 9.4 yards per carry entering the game, was held to 39 yards on 19 carries. He did not play for much of the last half of the fourth quarter.
Tyler Little got the start at quarterback for the Cardinals and didn't disappoint. Little was 26 of 33 passing (including 15 of 20 in the first half) for 266 yards and a pair of touchdown passes — both to wide receiver Darnell Williams. Williams caught five balls for 103 yards.
Ernesto Guerra had two field goals (32 and 45 yards) for TVCC.
Arkansas Baptist finished 2-8 on the season.
