POWERLIFTING: Heavy lifters

AHS girls’ performing well this season

Athens — The Athens High School varsity girls powerlifting team has competed in two meets this season.

During their first meet on Jan. 19 in Rusk, Ingrid Castaneda brought home a silver medal, and Wendy Pacheco and Marisol Arciaga both brought home a bronze.

During their Jan 26th meet in Brownsboro, the Lady Hornets brought home a second place team trophy.

Pacheco lifted a total of 535 pounds, Lira lifted a total of 360 pounds, and Castaneda lifted a total of 495 pounds and brought home gold medals in their individual weight classes.

Rodriguez lifted a total weight of 545 which brought home a silver medal in her weight class.
