AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: MHS teams sweep Kemp on Tuesday night

MALAKOFF — The Malakoff Lady Tigers forced a tie for third place with the Kemp Lady Jackets following a 56-50 win on Tuesday night in Kemp.

Kiana Reed led  Malakoff with 17 points,  while Hurd added 10 points. Hayley Thomas had nine points and six assists for the Lady Tigers.

Malakoff can clinch a playoff spot tonight with a win over Red Oak.

MHS thumps Kemp, 80-49 on Tuesday

The Malakoff Tigers took care of business Tuesday night with a big win over Kemp.

Deric Greenhaw led the way with a game-high 28 points for the Tigers. Teammate Q.T. Barker scored 20 points, while Kendric Hornbuckle had 13 points and Jared Givens added 12 points.

HCGSA sign ups are underway for athletes

The Henderson County girls softball association is looking for athletes.

Forms can be picked up at Kerry Harris Satellite Monday-Friday from 9-to-5 p.m. or sign ups will be held Saturday Feb. 1 and  Saturday Feb. 8 from 10-to-noon at Cain Park in the concession stand.
