The Eustace cross country teams ran at Lindale and Glenn Heights this past weekend.
Evan Arambula ran in Lindale on Friday as individual in 4A/5A division and won the race by a 30-second margin with a 16:33.
The rest of the team competed on Saturday in the Ovilla Christian Invitational in Glenn Heights.
The varsity girls team placed first being led by a pack of Bulldogs. Michelle Gomez placed second and ran a 12:30; Casey Bramblitt placed third and ran a 12:38; Samantha Crocker placed fourth and ran a 12:43; Meagan Gunter placed fifth and ran a 12:56; and Noah Taylor placed seventh and ran a 13:24.
The varsity boys team placed first led by Mark Zimmerer, who ran a 15:56 and placed second. Next was Jason Ballenger who placed third and ran a 16:33; Preston Schwartz placed fourth and ran a 16:35; Gavin Kirkhart placed fifth and ran a 16:48; and Hunter Rose placed ninth and ran a 17:01.
Mabank runs strong at Kemp CCX meet
KEMP — The Mabank girls varsity cross country team finished second (after tying for first and losing a tie-breaker) at last weekend’s Kemp cross country meet.
Kemp won the tie-breaker and finished first.
Individually, Kourtney Holyfield finished first; Heather Bayless was second; Sydnee Pottorf was third; Kelsie Clark finished 11th; and Kristina Flatt came in 14th.
The boys also turned in a strong performance and finished third overall. Garrett Graham placed third; Jose Gallegos was eighth; Caleb Massengale was 10th and Cameron Boren finished 14th. Justin Smith, Tim Glasscock and Adam Reeves also ran solid races.
Both teams will run in Eustace for their last meet prior to their district meet on Oct. 22.
In junior high action, the Mabank boys finished third at Kemp. Three runners brought home medals — Jace Capehart (8th); Jason Gallegos (9th); and Aaron Wilson (13th). Tanner Henderson and Chaney Johnson also ran good races.
