POTTSBORO — Athens Lady Hornets freshman golfer Samantha Smith finished in seventh place in the medalist standings at the Class 3A, Region II golf tournament on Tuesday.

Smith finished 31st out of 93 girls overall for the tournament.

Smith rounded out the tournament with a combined total of 207.

Only the top three best scores move on to the state tournament.

On Tuesday, the conditions were favorable for the golfers as Smith shot a personal best.

Smith advanced to the regional tournament after finishing with a 224 total last week at the District 15-3A meet.

The two day district tournament was held at Cedar Creek Country Club and Garden Valley Country Club.
