AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: AHS golfers Hammac, Morrison wrap up season at regionals

POTTSBORO — Athens Hornets golfers Alex Hammac and Emilli Morrison competed at the Region 2 Golf tournament at the Tanglewood Country Club in Pottsboro April 15-16.

Hammac shot an opening round of 80 and Morrison shot a 119.

Hammac and Morrison bettered their rounds the following day with Hammac shooting a 79, and Morrison finishing with a 118.

Eustace playoff game rescheduled

EUSTACE — Due to statewide STARR testing, the Eustace softball playoff game that was originally scheduled for Thursday night has been rescheduled.

The game against Edgewood is now set for Monday night at 6:30 p.m. at Wills Point High School.

Eustace finished as the third seed in District 13-2A play.

The winner of the Eustace-Edgewood contest will take on Mt. Vernon in the area round of the Region II-2A playoffs next week.

Co-ed volleyball starting May 6

The Cain Center is currently accepting teams for the Co-ed Adult Volleyball league starting May 6.

The registration for the event is currently open with a cost of $100 per team.

Teams will play in a round-robin format, with six player teams and a minimum of three women on the court.

Awards will be given for first and second place teams during the tournament.

The tournament will be a best of three games format or a 45-minute time limit.

A team captain meeting is scheduled for May 1st at 6:30 pm at Cain Center Gym.
