TVCC coast into finale with 96-22 win over San Jac.

Athens — First year coach Elena Lovato’s Lady Cards’ won their 43rd straight game at Cardinal Gym Wednesday night in dominating fashion in a 96-22 victory over the San Jacinto Lady Gators in Region XIV conference play.

With the win, the No. 1-ranked Lady Cardinals are now 28-1 overall and 15-0 in conference play.

The Lady Cardinals wrap up the regular season at home Saturday afternoon with a top-10 national matchup.

The Blinn College Lady Bucs come to town look to avenge an 89-72 loss at the hands of the Lady Cardinals back in January.

Wednesday night’s game was the fourth 90 point outing of the season for the Lady Cardinals.

TVCC came out on a hot streak against San Jacinto as the Lady Gators only suited up six players for the contest.

The Lady Cards went on a 23-0 run to open the game as Adut Bulgak opened the scoring with a putback.

Savannah Carter and Roddricka Patton then had back-to-back-to-back steals and layups for the early 8-0 lead.

San Jacinto was able to get on the scoreboard with 11:51 remaining in the half as Kendricka Osborne drained one-of-two free throws for the 23-1 deficit.

By the end of the first half, the Lady Cardinals held a 53-7 lead on the Lady Gators.

San Jacinto (7-19, 2-13 in conference play) committed 21 turnovers against the aggressive Lady Cardinals defense.

TVCC meanwhile had only six in the first 20 minutes of play.

TVCC’s Shannon Smith led the way in the opening 20 minutes with 17 of her game-high 27 points.

The Lady Cardinals managed to hit 13 three-pointers in the contest as Smith hit six in the game.

TVCC continued to pour on the pressure in the second half and held San Jacinto to single digits until the 15:45 mark of the second half.

All nine TVCC Lady Cardinals scored in the contest.

The Lady Cardinals had 19 points from Shlonte’ Allen, who returned from a knee injury, 14 points from Carter and 10 points from Patton. Patton also returned to the lineup after dealing with a hip injury.

TVCC was playing without the services of sophomore guard Krystle Henderson, who was out sick.
