EUSTACE —
Dominance was expected, and expectations were met.
The Eustace varsity girls and boys cross country teams each claimed championships at the District 13-2A meet held Monday at 4 Pines Ranch.
The wins qualify Eustace to compete at regionals Nov. 3 at Vandergriff Park in Arlington. Kemp will join the party after finishing second in the boys and girls divisions.
On the girls’ side, Michelle Gomez came in first overall with a time of 14:07.15. Eustace claimed an astounding seven top 10 finishes. with Samantha Crocker (14:44.64), Noa Taylor (14:45.00) and Meagan Gunter (15:13.04) finishing third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
The only runners not from Eustace to crack the top 10 were Life Red Oak’s Jordan Barnes, who finished second overall with a time of 14:18.53; Malakoff’s Brenda Cruz (5th, 14:50.34); Kemp’s Mikalia Gutierrez (6th, 15:21.79) and Kelsey Gage (7th, 15:30.64); and Scurry-Rosser’s Cheyanne Binley (9th, 15:34.14).
