NACOGDOCHES — ATHENS — Water level is 3.3 feet low and clear. Water temp in the low 70s.

Jerry Hanson at Lake Athens Marina says crappie fishing has been excellent. Lots of limits coming off brush piles in 20 feet of water, mainly on minnows. Bream are taking crickets. Also, some big bream reported by crappie anglers around brush piles.

Bass fishing has been excellent to 6 1/2 pounds. Lots of fish coming on cranks worked along drop offs. Floating worms and frogs are effective early around lily pads. Plenty of schooling activity, all day at times.

CEDAR CREEK — Water level is 2.88 feet low and slightly stained. Water temp in the low 70s.

Fishing guide Jason Barber says crappie are on the move. Best bite is around brush in 6-9 feet and 10-16 feet. Bridge crossings also are holding groups of fish.

Catfish are hanging in 10-20 feet of water around humps; shallower at night. Punch bait and night crawlers are working best for channel cat; cut shad, shrimp and liver for blues.

Black bass are hanging around rocks and docks, hitting spinnerbaits, jigs and crankbaits. Topwaters are working early and late. A few fish reported on Carolina rigs dragged on points and humps in 5-15 feet of water. White bass are on humps and points, hitting slabs and spoons at 8-16 feet. Hybrids are best at night around lighted docks, mostly on swimbaits and crankbaits.

PALESTINE — Water level is 1.4 feet low and fairly clear. Surface temp in the low 70s.

Fishing guide Ricky Vandergriff says bass are good in 3-6 feet of water using chartreuse spinnerbaits and white cranks. Jigs are producing some solid fish around docks with brush at six feet.

Crappie are fair at the Highway 155 crossing using minnows. The fish are holding tight to bottom in 20 feet. Channel catfish are excellent over baited holes in 15 feet of water. White bass are very slow.

FORK — Water level is four feet low and clear. Water temp is in the mid-70s.

Fishing guide Brooks Rogers says bass fishing has been fair. Topwaters, spinnerbaits and Texas rigs are working in the backs of creeks and along timber drains in 3-6 feet. A few fish also hitting Carolina rigs and deep cranks offshore.

Crappie fisherman are picking up limits around brush piles in 20-25 feet of water using minnows and jigs. Catfish are excellent on punch bait and cut bait soaked around baited holes and along channel breaks in 16-22 feet of water.

NACOGDOCHES — Water level is 2.6 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp in the mid 70s.

Bass are good to about three pounds on square bills, lipless cranks, Senkos and wacky worms worked around scattered grass in 2-5 feet of water. A few fish also busting topwaters and wake baits in cloudy conditions or early in the day.

Crappie anglers are plucking a few partial limits off brush piles using shiners and jigs.



NACONICHE — Water level is full and fairly clear. Water temp in the low 70s.

Bass fishermen are picking up a few fish to five pounds off outside grass edges using jigs and plastics. A few bass reported on topwaters. Jigs and plastics pitched around standing timber producing some solid fish in the 3-4 pound range, but bites are very scattered.

Crappie are fair on jigs and small spinners fished around outside grass edges at suspended depths.

SAM RAYBURN — Water level is 3.4 feet low and clear to slightly stained. Water temp in the low-to-mid-70s.

Bass fishing has been good to nine pounds on flutter spoons, cranks and jigs cast  on underwater ledges. Better numbers coming shallow on plastics dropped in hydrilla mats, frog lures and light Texas rigs in the mid-lake area.

Crappie anglers are reporting limits around brushpiles using minnows and jigs. Some decent reports also coming from the Highway 147 bridge crossing.

TOLEDO BEND — Water level is 3.7 feet low and clear. Surface temp in the mid-70s.

Charlie Shively at Bill's Landing says catfishing has been good on trotline. Several blues and flatheads to 50 pounds reported on live and cut bait; cut bait is catching the better numbers. Rod and reelers are picking up good numbers of blues along the edge of the Sabine River.

Bass fishermen are reporting good results using topwaters, spinnerbaits and frogs worked along the banks of Tenaha Creek. Not much size, but numbers are good.

Crappie are fair on the edges of the river when the wind allows. Best depth is 12 feet.

PINKSTON — Water level is about 18 inches low fairly clear. Water temp in the mid-70s.

Bass are good to six pounds using jigs and plastics along outside grass edges. Topwaters, lipless cranks and spoons are tickets when the fish are actively schooling on the surface. There have been some reports of occasionally schooling activity throughout the day.

Crappie are hit and miss around brush piles in 20-25 feet of water, suspended 7-12 feet down.
