MOUNT PLEASANT —
The TVCC rodeo team competed at the Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo October 11-13.
The TVCC men’s team placed second behind Sam Houston State University. Freshman Austin Gross, from Arcadia, Fla., placed second in bulls with a score of 82.
Freshman Wenceslao “Lightning” Aguilera and partner, freshman Kolby Miller from Alba, split second and third in team roping with a time of 6.0 seconds. Lightning and Kolby are currently first in the standings in the Southern Region. The top 3 in each event qualify for the College National Finals in Casper, Wyo.
“Our team made some needed progress in the standings at this rodeo,” TVCC rodeo coach Brent Bratton said. “We plan to carry this momentum on to our next rodeo at Lake Charles.”
The next rodeo will be at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La., October 26-27.
