The Eustace Bulldogs gave coach Heath Ragle his second win of the young season with a 24-7 win over the Rice Bulldogs at the Boneyard.
Eustace had two players rush for over 100 yards as Lance Rogers and Jesus Barcenas rushed for 146 and 104 yards respectively in the win. Clay Carson also had a big night for Eustace with 13 carries for 92 yards.
Eustace will head back on the road next week to face the Rusk Eagles in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
In the first half, both teams went into the locker room tied at 7-7 as Eustace outgained Rice, 209-56 in total yards.
The biggest play of the first half was a turnover by Eustace in the end zone.
EHS running back Keenan Hargest pounded the ball down to the 1-yard line, but Rice came away with a big fumble recovery to keep the game close.
With 10:44 remaining in the first half, Rogers found an opening in the Rice defense on a six-yard score. Ryan Brown booted the extra point good for the 7-0 lead.
Rice then capitalized on a three play drive as Chris Atchley tied the game at 7-7 with a 45-yard scamper through the heart of the Eustace defense with 10:02 remaining in the first half.
In the second half, EHS was able to contain the Rice offense and outscored them 17-0 as Clay Carson and Rogers scored touchdowns.
Carson's gave Eustace the lead for good as he pounded his way for an eight-yard touchdown. Jesus Barcenas converted a two-point conversion for the 15-7 lead.
Brown added a 35-yard field goal with 11:19 remaining in the game and Rogers capped off the scoring with a three-yard run for the 24-7 finale.
Eustace finished with 417 yards of total offense while Rice had 70 yards of offense for the game.
