HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: AHS falls to Wills Point, 3-2

WILLS POINT — The Athens Lady Hornets are finding out how to battle early on this season.

The Lady Hornets (1-2) lost their second match in five games this season.

AHS lost on Friday to the Wills Point Lady Tigers by scores of 19-25, 25-19, 25-21, 19-25 and 8-15.

“We are putting a lot of pressure on ourselves to win,” AHS coach Liz Ramsey said. “I am pleased that the girls are able to battle but we would rather not play to a fifth game every match.”

Athens lost to Eustace in its opener in five games after winning Game 1 and 4 last Tuesday.

Athens held a 12-4 lead in Game 4 on Friday behind eight points from Cari Aguilera, but they could not wrap up the game and match.

Athens host Grand Saline Tuesday and Chapel Hill this Friday.

“I am hoping that we can come out of this week with two wins,” Ramsey said. “We have not played Chapel Hill since we were in district with them but I know they are always a good team.”
