MABANK — The Mabank Lady Panthers soccer team will make their second straight trip to the sectional round this weekend.

Coach Matthew LeMoine’s Lady Panthers are 21-2-3 on the year following their area round win last week.

The Lady Panthers will face the No. 6 ranked Texas High Lady Tigers Friday night at 7 p.m. at Longview High School.

Mabank defeated Mount Pleasant 4-0 as Savannah Henderson scored two goals in the win.

Teammates Kaylee Creagh and Meagan Holyfield had a goal respectively.

Henderson scored her first goal in the first five minutes of the game.

Henderson also had two assists, while Meagan and Madison Holyfield had assists for the Lady Panthers.

The Lady Tigers pulled out a, 1-0, victory over the  Hallsville Lady Bobcats last week to reach the sectional round and are 22-2-1 on the season.

Texas High recorded their 21st shutout of the year in their area round win.

Mabank defeated Henderson, 6-1, in their bi-district round matchup.

Mabank also was the District 15-3A champion and the lone remaining team in the playoffs in Henderson County.

Ticket prices for the sectional round are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

The winner of this matchup will face the winner of the Dallas Wilson-Red Oak contest in the regional quarterfinals on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

The Lady Panthers  finished 19-7-1 overall last year faced Red Oak in the regional quarterfinals. They lost that game 4-2 in Forney.

It was their farthest trip ever in the UIL state soccer tournament under head coach Jeffery Downs. MHS came up two wins shy of the Class 4A state soccer tournament.
