BULLARD —
The Athens Lady Hornets opened District 17-3A play with a 90-44 loss to the Bullard Lady Panthers Tuesday night.
Bullard (17-8 overall, 2-0 in district) got 28 points from Texas Tech commit Minta Spears. The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 23-9 lead after the first quarter and didn’t score less than 20 points in any subsequent quarter.
Cari Aguilera led Athens with 14 points. Demi Cumby, who leads the team in scoring, was held to eight points. Avery Phillips pitched in six.
Brownsboro 35, Chapel Hill 33
BROWNSBORO — LaQuesha Cooper netted a game-high 16 points in leading the Brownsboro Bearettes to a 35-33 win over the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs in District 17-3A action Tuesday.
With the victory, the Bearettes improved to 17-5 overall and 2-0 in district play.
Brownsboro travels to Athens Friday.

Lindale 51, Athens 36
LINDALE — The Athens Hornets wrapped up their non-district schedule with a 51-36 loss to a tough Lindale Eagles team Tuesday.
Lindale jumped out to a 16-9 lead after the first quarter and held a 31-22 lead at the half.
Athens got 12 points from Anthony Sanders, 10 from Terrance Behan and six from Anthony Taylor. The Hornets fell to 16-10 on the season with the loss.
Athens will host Brownsboro Friday in the District 17-3A opener for both teams.

Athens 48, Lindale 41
LINDALE — The Athens Hornets won their fifth straight game and improved to 13-5 on the season with a 48-41 win over Lindale on Tuesday.
Head coach Keith O’Brien’s Hornets held a 25-17 lead at the half. Ryan Jefferson led the way for Athens with 11 points. Antoine Chilton and Kendon Crist scored 10 each and Jesse Durham finished with seven.

Athens Christian Acad. 30, ETCA 25
The Athens Christian Academy Warriors grabbed a 30-25 win over East Texas Christian Academy Tuesday night.
Jake Goforth led ACA with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Dillon Santelli had seven points, four rebounds and eight steals, Micah Santelli had seven points and Gavin Hardin netted six in the victory.

Athens Christian Acad. 13, ETCA 8
The Athens Christian Academy Lady Warriors held off East Texas Christian Academy in a 13-8 victory on Tuesday.
Skyler Beck led the way for ETCA with 10 points, 10 rebounds and six steals. Caitlin Millar finished with two points, five rebounds and seven steals.
