Hornets finish well at regionals
Josh Coleman finished in eighth place in the long jump and Stephen Blakemore finished 12th in the shot put last week at the regional track meet.
Coleman qualified for the finals. That is the first time in over 10 years an Athens Hornet has qualified for the finals at a regional meet.
The top two finalist advance to the UIL State Track and Field Meet in Austin. The separation from Coleman’s eighth place and second place was 8.5 inches. He jumped 21’11.25
Blackmore tossed a 45’9.25 in the shot put.
Cross Roads places third at state golf meet
The Cross Roads golf team took third place at the UIL State Golf Tournament.
The group had a total card of 685. Craig Ramsey shot a two-day 160, followed by Cody Bass, 169, Joey Wheeler, 174, Lance Cain, 182 and Erik Angel, 191.
The golf team would like to thank Country oaks golf Course for helping them have a great year and allowing them to practice there.
“I am proud of these kids for the way they handled themselves after being fifth after the first day,” Coach Chancz Johnson said.
SFA basketball camp set
Lee Ann Riley Basketball Camps will host a position skills camp June 26-28 in Nacogdoches, Texas. The three-day camp is a chance for players to focus on individual skills that will help take them to the next level.
The camp is open to girls entering grades 6-12. Both resident and commuter plans are available.
Members of the SFA Ladyjack basketball team and coaching staff, as well as high school coaches will assist with the camp. Each player will receive a camp t-shirt and a basketball.

TVCC hoops camp set for June 8-12
The Trinity Valley Community College Basketball Camp will be held June 8-12 at the TVCC campus in Athens. The camp is open to girls and boys grades 2-12. The camp will be from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day with the costs of the camp being $250 for resident campers and $150 for day campers. The emphasis of the camp will be on individual offensive fundamentals along with contests, competitions and leagues.

TVCC Team Camp to be held June 12-13
The Trinity Valley Community College Basketball Team Camp will be held June 12-13 at the TVCC Campus in Athens. The Shootout is open to girls and boys high school teams. The entry fee for the team camp is $175 with each team guaranteed five games.

TVCC to host Sunday Showcase Camp
A Sunday Showcase Camp for high school senior and junior football players (2009-10 school year) is scheduled Sunday, June 7 at Trinity Valley Community College. The entire TVCC coaching staff will conduct the camp along with members of the Oklahoma State University coaching staff.
The camp is scheduled from 3-5:30 p.m. with registration scheduled at the TVCC Field House at 2 p.m.
Cost of the camp is $35. The registration fee covers the cost for instruction and a camp T-shirt.
Campers should wear shorts and bring shoes (turf and grass). Instruction at the camp will be for individual positions and will feature 1-on-1 competition. In addition to the TVCC and OSU coaching staffs, instruction will be provided by other Division I, II and III coaching staffs.
