ATHENS — Lake Athens is seven inches low and clear. Water temp is in the low 50s.

Fishing traffic has been light due to nasty weather, especially early in the week.

Bass anglers reported fair results in shallow water before the front, mainly on lipless crankbaits and spinnerbaits fished around shallow grass beds and lily pad stubble.

Crappie anglers are scoring some nice limits on live shiners. The fish are bunched up around deep brush piles in 25-30 feet of water.

CEDAR CREEK — The lake is about two feet low and stained. Water temp is in the low 50s.

Fishing guide Jason Barber said catfishing has been good when the wind allows. Blues and channelsare taking cut shad fished near shore in about five feet of water, mostly on wind blown points.  Bass are good on jigs, spinnerbaits and crankbaits worked around rip raft and boat docks that offer some brush. Chartreuse, shad and crawfish color patterns are working best.
