HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cross Roads drops homecoming, 36-14 to Wortham

CROSS ROADS — Witty Busby rushed for two touchdowns and passedfor another, powering Wortham to a 36-14 win over Cross Roads on Friday.

Busby rushed for a game-high 190 yards on 20 carries and added 73 yards on 5-of-9 passing for the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-2 on the season.

Busby opened the scoring with a 27-yard TD pass to Rudy Miller with 4:50 left in the first period. Busby scored from 3 yards only 1:10 later after a Cross Roads turnover. Busby made it 21-0 with 7:35 remaining in the third quarter with a 22-yard scoring jaunt.

Wortham padded its lead to 28-7 early in the fourth quarter as Dalton Donnahoe scored from 12 yards out. Kenneth Freeman capped the Wortham scoring with 6:30 left in the game with a 30-yard touchdown run.

Freeman backed Busby with 101 yards rushing on only eight carries and Donnahoe had 67 yards on six tries as Wortham accumulated 382 yards on the ground.

Cross Roads was limited to 61 yards rushing and Wortham forced four turnovers.
