HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: Eustace cross country runs strong at Grand Prairie invitational

EUSTACE — The Eustace cross country teams competed at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie which is the new region II site this year.

The meet provided a lot of tough competition and a very large turnout.

The varsity girls placed ninth out of 24 teams and 204 individuals. They were lead by freshman Skye Burns who placed 36th and ran a 13:26, next was Shelby White who placed 45th, Alyssa Shaddox, Harley Kile, Chloe Moore, Chanda Westbrook, Noa Taylor placed 59th, 62nd, 65th, and 67th respectively and all finished under 14:19.

The varsity boys placed fourth out of 27 teams and 208 individuals.

They were lead by Mark Zimmerer who placed 4th and ran a 16:59, next was Hunter Rose who placed 23rd, Brandon Richardson placed 30th, Ayden Reed placed 51st, Cade Yates placed 53rd, Gabe Purselley placed 55th, Zane Arambula placed 59th, and Alec Marable placed 106th.

The junior varsity boys placed ninth.

They were lead by Elijah Rogers, then Temple Hendrickson, Michael Wong, Matthew Clarke, and Justin Legal.

ACP falls to Waco Mt. Calm, 46-0

TRINIDAD — The Athens Christian Preparatory Storm lost to Waco Mt. Calm Saturday in it’s first home game of the year.

The Storm (0-3) lost 46-0 at Trinidad’s Trojans field.

Athens Christian Prep will look to get it’s first win of the season Friday night when they travel to Fruitvale.

Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Storm’s final home game will be Oct. 26 against Legacy Bible. Kickoff for the game is set to begin at 11 a.m.
