The Brownsboro Bears lost 3-2 at Canton on Friday, despite outhitting Canton six to four.
Shelby Rogers put together a nice outing. Canton managed just two hits off of the Bears' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out six during his 4 2/3 innings of work.
Cade Wager got the win for Canton.
He allowed two runs over seven innings. Wager struck out nine, walked none and gave up six hits.
Canton went up for good in the first, scoring one run on an RBI triple by Chandler Eiland.
One Bears run crossed the plate in the bottom half of the fourth, making the score 3-1. An RBI single by Aaron Sherman fueled the Brownsboro comeback. Wager ended the inning by getting Rogers to strike out.
One run in the bottom of the fifth helped Brownsboro close their deficit to 3-2.
A wild pitch set off the rally. Canton stopped the rally after Wager got Aaron Ramirez to strike out to end the inning.
Ryan Covington led the way at the plate for the Bears’ going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Teammates Chris Davis, Ramirez, Blake Ralson and Sherman each recorded a hit in the game.
The Bears wrap up their 2013 season Friday evening at home against Athens for senior night.
