Despite a big day from Raul Gutierrez, who finished 2-for-4 at the plate, the Brownsboro Bears lost 10-4 to Van at Bear baseball field Tuesday night.
With the loss, coach Cody Ellis’ Bears are eliminated from playoff contention.
Van matched its four-run fourth inning with four more in the fifth.
In the fourth, Van scored on an RBI single by Tristan Ford, plating Jacob Tobias.
One run in the bottom of the fourth helped the Bears close their deficit to 5-1.
An RBI single by Miles Spencer fueled the Bears comeback. Finally, Garrett Walker induced an inning-ending fly out from Blake Ralson.
One run crossed the plate in the bottom half of the sixth, making the score 9-2. An RBI single by Ryan Covington set off the Bear’s rally.
Ralson flew out to end the threat. After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the seventh, the Bears faced a 10-4 deficit.
An RBI single by Gutierrez and a sacrifice fly by Chris Davis gave the Bears life. Christian Cole got the last out, as Spencer flew out to end the game.
