The Athens Hornets trailed 43-32 at the half against the Canton Eagles in their 72-63 District 15-3A loss Tuesday night.
Athens junior Anthony Sanders scored a game-high 22 points for the Hornets (14-14, 1-3), while teammate Courtland Lyons added 18 points in the loss.
Athens returns to the court Friday night with an 8 p.m. tipoff at Van.

BROWNSBORO — The Brownsboro Bears picked up another big District 15-3A win with a 55-47 win on Tuesday night.
Will Bailey scored 18 points from Brownsboro, while teammate Davonte Givens scored 14 points in the win.
David Marler scored a game-high 19 points for the Panthers, while Garrett Graham added 11 points.
Brownsboro travels to Mineola Friday night, while Mabank hosts Canton. Both games are set to tipoff at 7:30 p.m.

CANTON — The Athens Lady Hornets dropped to 1-5 in District 15-3A play with four games remaining in the regular season.
Canton jumped out to a 36-18 lead at the intermission and cruised to the double-digit victory.
Senior guard Demi Cumby scored a team-high 13 points for Athens, while teammate Cari Aguilera added 10 points.
First year coach Dee Evan's Lady Hornets travel to Van Friday night. Tipoff is set for 6:15 p.m.

Brownsboro held a 20-19 lead at the intermission.
Kourtney Holyfield scored a game-high 16 points, while teammates Hazel Puempel and Gabi Corder added five points each.
Brownsboro travels to district leading Mineola Friday night, while Mabank (4-2 in district play) hosts Canton.
