Trinity Valley head coach Brad Smiley announced 10 football players who signed with major colleges for next year on Wednesday.
Seven players have signed with NCAA Division I schools, and three other players signed with top Division 2 programs.
“Last year we led the nation in signees and this year you should find us again somewhere near the top,”Smiley said.
One of the biggest names to come out of the opening day of signings came from offensive tackle Josiah St. John — who is ranked No. 6 on the ESPN Junior College Top 100 list and the top ranked offensive tackle in the nation.
St. John has committed to play from the Oklahoma Sooners. He will be joined from All-American defensive tackle Quincy Russell.
The Cards finished the season 3-6 overall and Smiley said he expects eight-to-12 more players to sign in February.
“The rest of the Cardinals are finishing up academically and are still taking visits and will sign in February,” Smiley said.
In addition to the players who signed on Wednesday, defensive tackle Raphael Cox decommitted from New Mexico and will visit Western Kentucky in January.
