HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: AHS places nine players on 31-4A All-District team

Athens — The Athens Hornets received one superlative selection by the District 31-4A coaches on the all-district team released Wednesday morning.

Senior goalkeeper Johnny Gonzalez was named the Newcomer of the Year, while teammates Enrique Rodriguez, Alfredo Vasquez and Bryant Castaneda were named to the first team.

Juan Mota, Kody Ingham and Jordy Castaneda were named to the second team.

Raul de la Fuente and Pedro Galvan received honorable mention honors rounded out the Hornets selections.

Mabank’s Caleb Massengale and Jhon Leon were named to the first team, while Tyler Crum and Trevor Orsak were named to the second team.
