Bobcats get first win
Cross Roads takes down Fruitvale on Homecoming, 34-16
CROSS ROADS — Cross Roads picked the right time to get its first win of the season.
Cross Roads jumped out to a 28-6 lead at the half en route to a 34-16 victory over the Fruitvale Bobcats during homecoming at Bobcat Stadium.
Cross Roads (1-3) jumped out to a 14-0 lead after junior tailback Lance Cain scored on a one-yard run followed by a 20-yard pass from Craig Ramsey to Kolton McGlaun with 3:02 remaining in the quarter.
Fruitvale then scored when junior running back Randy Mejia found a seam with under a minute remaining.
Cross Roads gave themselves some breathing room in the second quarter when Brandon Peyrefitte blasted his way for 68 yards and a touchdown. Cain then booted the PAT.
Junior quarterback Craig Ramsey finished as the leading rusher with 14 carries for 116 yards for Cross Roads.
The Bobcats return to action in two weeks when they travel to Cushing. Head Coach Chancz Johnson’s team is off next week.
“We are going to get better at fundamentals and make sure that we heal up,” Johnson said.
