The Cross Roads LadyCats improved to 7-1 on the year with a consolation title in the Big Sandy tournament.
The LadyCats lost to Beckville on Thursday, beat Overton on Friday, and beat Big Sandy on Saturday in the consolation game.
Leading the way in the consolation game was Kelsi Lookabaugh with eight points, six assists and four steals, Paulette Burgess with six points and seven rebounds, Cynai Wilson with six points, Kourtney Hazelip with five points, Rebecca Kramer with four points, 11 rebounds and four steals, Sara Spivey with four points and eight rebounds and Cayla Penix with one point.
TVCC splits weekend basketball contests
No. 1-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals suffered their first loss on the court since 2011 in the championship game of the WNIT Tournament over the weekend.
TVCC lost to No. 4-ranked Chipola, 72-60, as they were outscored 50-34 in the second half.
Deborah Meeks led the way with 15 points and five rebounds, while teammate Shlonte’ Allen added 12 points and five rebounds.
In men’s basketball action, TVCC improved to 9-1 on the year with a 100-95 win over Clarendon College.
The Cardinals will open Region XIV conference play tonight against San Jacinto at 7:30 p.m. at Cardinal gymnasium.
