HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Eustace defeats Red Oak 5-2 in district action

RED OAK —

The Eustace Lady Bulldogs defeated Red Oak 5-2 in district softball action Friday night.

Eustace pitcher Casey Bramblitt had 10 strikeouts and one walk for the win.

With the win, coach Dottie Hawthorne’s team is now 5-4 in district play. Eustace will host Malakoff tonight at 6 p.m.

Senior Kacie Richards led off the game with a single to left field, followed by a fielders choice from senior Casey Bramblitt.

Junior Ashleigh White then moved Richards to third with a groundball and senior Chelsea Oldham blasted a triple that scored Richards.

In the third inning, sophomore Noa Taylor led off with a single, stole second and scored on the line drive to right field byBramblitt.

In the fifth inning, freshmen Keely Mckinney scored Ashley White who smacked a double to left field and then junior Shelby Marcom hit a line shot to right to score Oldham.

In the sixth inning, Taylor beat the throw to first got around to 3rd on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.

“It was a big win for us because Red Oak beat us in the first round,” Hawthorne said. “We played solid defense and worked together as a team. I am very proud of them.”
