ATHENS — Water level is 5.36 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp in the high 60s.
Jerry Hanson at Lake Athens Marina says bass fishing has been good to seven pounds. Lots of slot fish coming on spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps worked along outside grass lines in 4-8 feet of water.
Crappie fishermen are reporting limits in 20-25 feet of water around brush piles. The fish are suspended 10-15 feet down.
CEDAR CREEK — Water level is is 7.28 feet low and stained. Water temp is in the upper 60s.
Fishing guide Jason Barber said catfish are fair to 20 pounds on rod and reel baited with cut shad; most keepers are weighing 2-4 pounds, hitting fresh shad in 3-8 feet of water.
Black bass are good to four pounds around any shallow cover you can find. Boat docks with available water are holding fish as well. Jigs, spinnerbaits and plastics are the ticket.
Crappie anglers are picking up partial limits using live shiners around main lake brush in 8-20 feet of water. Bridge crossings also holding fish at suspended depths. White bass are fair on humps from midlake south using slabs in 8-20 feet.
RICHLAND CHAMBERS — Water level is 7.76 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp is in the upper 60s.
Larry Winters at Midway Landing said launching is becoming increasingly difficult as water levels continue to fall. Not much traffic on the water.
Catfishing has been good on rod and reel around baited holes in 12-18 feet of water, mainly on shad and punch bait. Black bass are fair to fair to six pounds on jigs and plastics worked along drop offs. A few fish hitting spinnerbaits around shallow wood.
NACOGDOCHES — Water level is 11.98 feet low and fairly clear. Surface temp in the low 70s.
Bass are fair to three pounds on crankbaits, Rat-L-Traps and soft plastics fished from the bank out to four feet. Scattered grass and stumps are the ticket. No schooling to speak of. Crappie are slow.
FORK — Water level is 7.19 feet low and stained. Water temp is in the mid-70s.
Butch Mack at Lake Fork Marina said bass are fair to nine pounds on Carolina rigs and drop shots fished in 28-30 feet of water. Also a few fish hitting spinnerbaits and topwaters worked around stumps in 1-4 feet of water.
Crappie are holding in 22 feet around brush, hitting jigs and shiners. Highway 154 and 515 bridges also producing a few limits.
Catfish are good five pounds around channel drops in 34 feet, mainly on minnows.
PALESTINE — Water level is 6.15 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp is in the upper 60s.
Fishing guide Ricky Vandergriff says white bass are fair on Rat-L-Traps and crankbaits worked around active schools in 8-12 feet. Black bass are good to six pounds spinnerbaits, Shimmy Shakers and Carolina rigs fished on points in 3-12 feet of water.
Crappie fishermen are reporting partial limits at the Highway 155 crossing and around standing timber in 18-20 feet, suspended at 12-14 feet. Catfish are fair on jugs tipped with cut bait. Rod and reelers are picking up channels using night crawlers and punch bait over baited holes.
PINKSTON — Water level about 10 feet low and falling slowly. Water temp in the upper 60s, low 70s and very clear.
Bass are fair to five pounds on jigs and plastics flipped along outside grass edges in 10 feet of water. Wacky worms and Flukes are producing a few fish as well.
TOLEDO BEND — Fishing guide Harold Allen said bass are good to three pounds in 10-18 feet on dropoffs from midlake north. Days with 30-60 fish are not uncommon. Texas rig worms are the ticket. Allen said the fish are bunching up real good. Outside grass edges in 2-8 feet of water holding fish at midlake.
Crappie are fair around brush piles using shiners and minnows. Catfish are good to 35 pounds on trotlines tipped with cut bait. Rod and reelers are picking up good numbers of keeper size channel cat using night crawlers and punch bait.
SAM RAYBURN — Water level is 13.27 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp in the low 70s.
Scott Soisson the Tackle Monkey at says bass are fair to six pounds on assorted baits like swim jigs, wake baits, Rat-L-Traps and topwaters worked around shallow grass from the bank out to five feet. Lots of small fish being reported.
Soisson says crappie are fair around any available brush in 15-20 feet of water.
