NJCAA WOMEN'S NATIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT BLOG: On the road

ATHENS — SOMEWHERE IN KANSAS -- Our crew of three -- former Athens Review sports editor Benny Rogers (now with TVCC), photographer Charles Stiff and myself -- are on Interstate 135 heading north toward Salina. That's where the TVCC Lady Cardinals will open their bid for the school's sixth national championship tomorrow at 8:15 p.m. against Walters State in the first round of the NJCAA Women's National Basketball Tournament.

We'll keep you posted here and also via Twitter on the Lady Cards' progress, and don't forget to check out our comprehensive coverage each day in the print edition of the Athens Review. There you can find game coverage and more. We'll have stories detailing how a pair of missed free throws changed a Lady Cardinals' season for the better, and how a teammate will be making a sweet return to Kansas. Also check out our "Fastbreak" feature, which will let you get to know a side of a handful of Lady Cardinals you may not have seen before.

Also, check back later today for possible Web-only updates from the Lady Cards' scheduled 4 p.m. shoot-around at the Bicentennial Center.

Gotta go for now ... Benny, Charles and I are about to have a sing-a-long to Tammy Wynette's "D-I-V-O-R-C-E." No, no video will be made available.
