The Athens Review
The tough road for the Kemp Yellowjackets continued Friday night with a 49-20 loss to the Lone Oak Buffaloes at Yellowjackets Stadium.
With the loss, coach Greg Anderson's team heads into a bye week with a 0-6 record. The Yellowjackets next game will be on Oct. 25 at Malakoff.

Lone Oak then went on a three play, 47-yard touchdown drive as Chawn Cooper hauled in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Jake Williams for the opening score less than a minute into the ball game. Williams then ran in the two-point conversion for the 8-0 lead.
Lone Oak extended its lead to 14-0 as Ryan Basye got past the Kemp defense and hauled in a 12 yard pass from Williams with 9:52 remaining in the first quarter. Brett Loeffler booted his first of two PAT's good.
Buffaloes running back Trent Sikes then blasted his way for a 30-yard touchdown strike with 6:33 remaining in the first quarter to extend the lead to 20-0.
On the ensuing kickoff, Kemp wide receiver Calbert Hukill fielded the kick at his own 10-yard and found a crease down the left sideline for a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to cut the lead to 20-7 with 6:33 remaining in the opening quarter.
Lone Oak was not finished scoring in the first half as they found a way to tack on 23 unanswered points.
Sikes recorded his second touchdown of the game on an aggressive eight-yard run through the heart of the Kemp defense with 4:38 remaining in the first half.
Following a quick three and out by the Yellowjackets, Lone Oak's Devin Shaw broke free down his right sideline from the Kemp 47-yard line and went to paydirt to extend the first half lead to 35-7 with four minutes remaining in the half.
At the end of the half, Lone Oak scored again from 47-yards out as Basye found an opening for a 47-yard touchdown. Logan Johnson caught the two-point conversion to extend the halftime lead to 43-7 Lone Oak.
In the second half, the Yellowjackets had touchdowns from Watkins on a five-yard run and a 19-yard touchdown pass from Watkins to Braxton Allison for the final score of the game.
Allison led the way for the Yellowjackets with 10 catches for 176 yards and one touchdown.
