The Malakoff Tigers opened up District 7-2A, Division I play by breaking a 79-year old school scoring record with a dominating performance over the Grand Saline Indians Friday night.
The Tigers are averaging 59 points per game this season through the first five games of the year.
Malakoff (5-0, 1-0) jumped out to a 49-0 lead at the half.
Damontes Dowell had touchdown runs of 2, 4 and 35 yards while teammates Garrian McCallister, Marcus Dowell, Braylon Cable, Kendrick Hornbuckle (one rushing, one TD reception) Dariuhn Jackson all had touchdowns in the game.
The Tigers defense had two fumble recoveries and two interceptions in the win Friday night.
The Tigers will have homecoming next week against the Eustace Bulldogs — who were a 58-15 winner of the Kemp Yellowjackets Friday night.
