Traxson, Rodriguez named first teamers by Tyler media

Athens — Eight Athens High School students received recognition on the 2014 Tyler Morning Telegraph and East Texas Final Score All-East Texas soccer team.

First team honors went to freshman Makayle Traxson and senior Enrique Rodriguez.

On the honorable mention team, senior Melinda Green and freshman Kyra Robison were recognized as honorable mention players.

Traxson and Robison contributed big numbers to the Lady Hornet program during their freshman season.

Traxson rounded out the year with 22 goals and six assists.

Robison added 20 goals and five assists as they were members of the 9-9-3 bi-district qualifiers.

For Rodriguez, the season was one where he became the top scorer in school history.

Rodriguez recorded his 49th goal — beating the previous mark of Jon David with 48 goals scored.

The two Hornet players were junior Jose Martinez and senior Juan Mota — who were named to the honorable mention list.

Mabank’s Bailey Swain is a first team goalkeeper, following her District 31-4A Most Valuable Player award this season.

Samantha Gomez, Kelci Hill, Madison Holyfield, Meagan Holyfield and Kayla Houston were named honorable mention.

Mabank's Preston Hale was named honorable mention on the All East Texas soccer team.
