Pioneer Day 5K event June 21

Athens — The ninth annual Pioneer Day 5K run/walk is scheduled for June 21 in Eustace.

The event is set to begin at 8 a.m. at the Eustace town square.

Presentation of awards will go to the top three in each age group following the race.  

The race is for kids 12 and under through racers 70 and over.

The cost of registration is $15 for early registration and $20 for late registration after June 18.

Basketball tourney set for June 20-22

A summer basketball tournament called the Heat Shoot-Out is set for June 20-22 for junior varsity and varsity boys and girls.

The tournament is set to take place at Brook Hill in Bullard.

The entry fee is $225 per team and the deadline is June 16.

There is a $25 late registration fee per team.

Teams are guaranteed three games and their will be first and second place trophies and medals.

All-Henderson County team release

The final all-Henderson County baseball and softball teams are set for release this weekend.

The teams will be released in the weekend edition of the Athens Review.

The top athletes from across the area will be recognized from superlative honors to first, second and honorable mention selections.
