CR graduate Ramsey doing well on collegiate stage

Athens — Cross Roads graduate Craig Ramsey is finding success on the college level as a member of the Georgetown Tigers baseball team.

The 6-foot, 205 pound left hander is a junior for the Tigers pitching staff.

During the past season, Ramsey helped guide the Tigers to a 23-3 record in the Mid-South conference and a 46-11 overall record.

He finished out his junior season with a 6-1 record in 21 games with a 1.19 earned run average in 37 2/3 innings.

He also recorded eight saves for the program.

His pitching numbers came out to 20 hits, 17 walks and 52 strikeouts. He allowed eight runs with five of them earned this season.

He recorded his sixth win of the season on May 15 against Mount Vernon Nazarene University in a 5-4 win in 10 innings.

Ramsey came on in the final four innings, allowing one run on three hits, with three strikeouts.

In 2011, Ramsey was the 19-A Pitcher of the Year for Cross Roads.

Ramsey went 9-2 on the mound with 145 strikeouts in just 66 innings of work.

He gave up just nine earned runs that season.

He threw three no-hitters during the season.

He also had a 21-strikeout game against Cayuga, which was the second-ranked team in Class 1A at the time.
