Athens athletic department announces summer camps

Athens — The Athens High School athletic department has announced plans for five summer camps during the next two months.

Starting on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, the Athens Lady Hornets will host a basketball camp for girls entering the third through ninth grade.

The camp is scheduled to run from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Athens High School gymnasium.

Registration and check-in is scheduled for 3-3:45 p.m. in the gymnasium.

The cost of the camp is $25 and you are asked to bring the application and fee to coach Dee Evans today to confirm your spot.

On June 16-19, the softball team will host a camp that focuses on all of the skills.

Coach Morgan Harpole, Anthony Bryan and current players will host two sessions for players in the fourth grade through sixth grade from 9-to-10:30 a.m.

They will then host players in the seventh through ninth grade from 11-1 p.m. at Peg Cain Field.

The cost of the camp is $35 and includes a camp T-shirt.

The Athens Hornets will host a camp on June 23-26 at Hornet Field for incoming first through ninth graders.

The camp is scheduled for two sessions with first through fifth graders on June 23-24 from 9-11:30 a.m.

The camp for sixth through ninth graders is set for June 25-26 from 9-11:30 a.m.

Cost of the camp is $30 and includes a camp T-shirt.

The Athens Hornet basketball team is scheduled to host their camp June 30-July 2 from 8:30-12:30 p.m. at AHS gymnasium.

The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-14.

The camp is $25 and will include a camp T-shirt. They are asking for cash or money orders only.

Deadline for registration is June 23.

The Athens Hornet football team will wrap up the summer camps on July 28-30. Cost of the camp is $50 and includes a camp T-shirt.

The camp is for students in the first through ninth grade. It will be run in two sessions.

First graders through sixth graders will work from 8-9:45 a.m. Students in the seventh through ninth grade will work from 10-11:45 a.m. at Bruce Field.
