EUSTACE —
On November 17, the Eustace Little League football team won the Tri County Football Association’s Superbowl by defeating the Kemp Yellowjackets by a score of 8-0 and claiming the TCFA crown.
Eustace started its playoff run on November 3 by defeating Mabank in the wildcard round 8-0 and then defeating the Crandall Pirates 22-7 in the playoff round. After starting the season 2-3 the young Bulldogs won 8 straight to claim top honors in TCFA boosting their overall record to 10-3 on the season.
After reflecting on the season Head Coach Casey Herring said, “First thanks goes to our Lord and Savior. Nothing is possible without him. My hats are off to the Kemp Yellowjackets, their coaches and coach Rusty Clamon and their organization. They are a class act. It has been a tough, long season for us. We beat some very good teams who could have been right here winning the championship game.”
Herring said his team started the season out slow, going 2-3, but rallied around each other. He said the team worked hard and believed in each other as a team.
“We never gave up,” he said. “We stuck together. We lived by our motto, ‘Won’t Be Beat’ and our Bible verse, Philippians 4:13. Words cannot describe it. I am very proud of this group of kids. They are amazing young men. I am proud of our Midget and Pee-Wee teams also. They were both one win away from going to the Superbowl. This has to rank as one of the best years in this organizations history. The future is bright in Eustace. Thanks goes out to all my assistant coaches, E.A.S.A board members, E.A.S.A cheerleaders and their coaches plus the parents for their dedication throughout the season.”
