WHITEHOUSE —
The Athens Senators kept up their hot hitting with a 14-5 run-rule victory over the Whitehouse Warriors Thursday during the Texas Teenage Baseball Machine Pitch State Tournament.
The win leaves the Senators two victories shy of a state championship. They hit the diamond again Friday at 6 p.m. to face the Palmer Bulldogs. A win would send the Senators to Saturday’s championship game.
The Senators scored all the runs they would need with a six-run second. The Warriors cut the lead to 6-3 in the third, but the Senators put the game away with two in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the sixth.
