AHS season ticket renewals set for Aug. 4

Athens — The Athens High School athletic department is gearing up for football season ticket sales.

With the season opener for the Hornets football team set for Aug. 29 at Bruce Field against the Henderson Lions, the school will start renewing season tickets on Aug. 4.

From Aug. 4-7, they will renew all 2013 season tickets from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

The cost of renewing your seat is $30 per seat.  

During the week of Aug. 11-14, season ticket holders can exchange seats, but only if you have renewed your seats the previous week.

Starting Aug. 18, the remaining seats will be open to the public.

There will be five home games at Bruce Field this season.

The Hornets home games are Aug. 29 vs. Henderson for teacher appreciation night, Sept. 12 vs. Hallsville for civil servant night and Sept. 26 vs. Waco Robinson for homecoming.

The Hornets open the District 8-4A schedule with two games on the road at Van and Mabank on Oct. 10 and 17.

They will face Kaufman at Bruce Field on Oct. 24 for Youth Football night and senior night in Nov. 7 vs. Wills Point.

As a reminder, the athletic department is not set up to take credit cards.

You are asked to bring cash or check in the amount of your purchase.

Athens finished the 2013 season with a record of 10-1 after losing to the Chapel Hill Bulldogs in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

The football team won the school’s first undefeated district championship since 1959.

It was also the school’s first undefeated regular season in school history.

The Hornets football schedule, with all games starting at 7:30 p.m. is as follows:

Sept. 19    at Rusk

Sept. 26    Waco Robinson

Oct. 10    at Van

Oct. 17    at Mabank

Oct. 24    Kaufman

Oct. 31    at Crandall
