TVCC ranked No. 10 by

Athens — The annual rankings by have the Trinity Valley Cardinals as the No. 10 team in the nation.

The Dirty 30 rankings, which are in their 10th season, reflect the performance on the field, the strengths of the conference, team records and players in key positions.

The Cardinals finished the 2013 season with a record of 10-2 following their Heart of Texas bowl win over Mesa Junior College.

Brad Hoiseth with JC Gridiron said the Cardinals look like the complete package on paper if the young defense can grow up quickly.

They also ranked rival Navarro College as the No. 5 ranked team in the nation.

“The defense looks dominant and the offense returns experience under center,” Hoiseth said.

The Tyler Junior College Apaches rounded out the Southwest Junior College Football conference teams as they made the list at No. 25.

The writers said they have the pieces in place to make a run with a major quarterback transfer.

Blinn was a team that was on the bubble for consideration in the rankings.
