MABANK —
The Mabank Lady Panthers wrapped up the regular season with a 46-36 win over the No. 22-ranked Mineola Lady Jackets on Tuesday.
With the win, coach Ashleigh Weeaks’ Lady Panthers finished the regular season at 18-14 and 8-2 in District 15-3A play.
The Lady Panthers playoff opponent has not been set as there is a three-way tie in District 16-3A.
Mineola jumped out to a 19-11 lead at the half, but then Mabank outscored the Lady Jackets, 35-17, in the second half.
Kourtney Holyfield led the way for Mabank with 23 points, four rebounds and four steals. She also had three assists in her final game at Mabank.
Teammate Morgen Gaona also added 10 points, two rebounds and one assists.
Mineola (28-4, 9-1) was led in scoring by Ali Galaz with 11 points.
Malakoff, A-G girls playoff game set
The bi-district playoff matchup between the Malakoff Lady Tigers and Alba-Golden Lady Panthers has been set for next week.
Coach Emily Martinez said the game will be played at Brownsboro High School Monday night at 7 p.m.
TVCC beat Angelina in JUCO action
The No. 2-ranked TVCC Lady Cardinals defeated Angelina 86-60 Wednesday night in Lufkin.
Shannon Smith led the way for the Lady Cards with 18, while Savannah Carter and Adut Bulgak with 14 points each.
Teammates Roddricka Patton added 13 points, while Shlonte' Allen added 11 points.
The Lady Cardinals return to the court Saturday afternoon with a 4 p.m. contest against Tyler.
In men’s action, the Cardinals lost to Navarro 59-51 in Corsicana.
Trinity Valley returns to the hardwood Saturday evening at 6 p.m. against the Tyler Junior College Apaches.
